Jaguar will present a new design study based on the F-type at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The study, which will also take part in the Goodwood hillclimb, is being kept under tight wraps ahead of the Festival of Speed this weekend. The company's chief engineer Mike Cross will pilot the car up the famous hill.

Jaguar will also present three new 'R' models at the festival, all of which will have their moving debuts at the event.

The new XJR, first seen at the New York motor show earlier this year, has 542bhp on tap from its 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, and can accelerate from 0-60mph in 4.4sec and on to a top speed of 174mph.

Also taking on the hillclimb is Jaguar's XKR-S GT, also seen for the first time earlier this year. The car has been built to celebrate 25 years of Jaguar's R brand, and although it is limited to 186mph Jaguar says, theoretically, the car is capable of smashing the 200mph barrier. The car will be driven up the hill by Olympic Champion Sir Chris Hoy and Gran Turismo producer Kazunori Yamauchi.

Finally, the XFR-S also gets its moving debut at the event. Reaching 62mph in 4.6sec, and 100mph in less than nine seconds, the car again has a limited top speed of 186mph. The XFR-S also uses the same Quickshift transmission used in the F-Type.

A selection of Jaguar's heritage cars will be coming to the event, too, including the XK 120 and a D-type. An art installation created by students from the Royal College of Art will also be on display.
