Aftermarket Homelink?

Hi All, new member here. Just picked up a new 2023 P450 Convertible yesterday. Beautiful car with every option except no Homelink for some inexplicable reason. Perhaps microchip shortage had something to do with it. Wondering if anyone knows of a decent aftermarket solution? Thanks for your help.

JDB, I can't tell you a good solution, but I can tell you that buying an F type mirror that has the HomeLink on it will work but it throws lots of codes. I also wanted HomeLink, so I found a used F type mirror on Ebay, got it, installed it and it worked fine. After 5 or so miles of driving, the ABS, Traction Control, Parking Brake, and Spoiler warning light all came on. I got a code reader, and I had 20 some codes all about can bus failures. So, I took the mirror off, no more codes.

I know that isn't a solution but at least you don't have to play trial and error games.
Hi Thunderrun, That's a really good idea. I hadn't thought of that. Who actually did your mirror installation and what did it cost ya?
I did it myself. It was incredibly easy. The used mirror was $110. I think the entire process took 2 minutes and the first minute was inspecting the used mirror.

It worked fine. I got the buttons programmed for the door and the gate opener. It just threw a ton of codes. However, I do have the base model. Since your car is much more well optioned than my car, I wonder if yours would work better.

I'm more than happy to take pictures of how I installed my mirror if you decide to go this route.

Hi,

Thanks for the information and the offer of the photos---that's very kind. I did see a few mirrors on eBay for an F-Type but I'm not sure they would work on mine, which is a 2023. It's difficult to believe that Homelink wouldn't be a standard feature on the car. Anyway, I'll keep my eyes on eBay and see if one becomes available for the 2023.
The only way to be safe for something like this is to check part numbers. Especially since yours is brand new.

Yes, good point. Do you know of a good online resource that provides the part numbers for all F-Type model years? Also, tell me about your car. I'm brand new to Jaguars and trying to learn as much as I can. I've driven German cars for the last 20 years but looking forward to the change. I even changed Siri to a British accent!

I’ve dealt with Harper Jaguar online. They were quite helpful in sourcing steering wheel switches for my 2014 V6S. Pricing was also better than my local JLR dealer.

I’m afraid I didn’t read your note carefully. Throwing codes will set off my OCD like nuts! That won’t work. I think I’m going to try and find something that will activate my garage via internet (like MyQ) and hope to control it via SIRI/Voice command. Thanks for everyone’s responses. I’m a newbie here (and newbie F-Type owner) and this seems like a cool community.
I lost my mind with the codes also. It wasn't worth it. The thought of the ABS or Traction Control not being available defeats the ability to open a door.

There is a solution, I just haven't found it yet.

I get all my part numbers from jaguarparts.com and buy them from FCP Euro.

I have done just this. Once you get MyQ working down load the app LiveKey. It will allow you to get Siri to interface with MyQ. Works every time. You can also set up GEO Fencing
