My 2016 F-Type base no longer stops/restarts the engine while stopped. While I’m not a particular fan of this feature, I’d like to know why it quit functioning. I’m wonder if this may indicate that the original battery (batteries?) are fading?

I have a 2016 base with the same issue. I don’t like the feature either but I would like to know why it stopped working at around 12,000 miles.

My husband's XJL (2014) also stopped working. It took quite a search, but he was able to find the battery for it. I believe it even had to come from Germany or England. A very specific battery. His car had closer to 50,000 when it stopped.

Mine too has stopped. Research tells me the separate battery that operates this feature needs replacement. It is located under the carpet in the trunk. I haven't replaced it yet but intend to.

Yes, it is a wholly separate battery - maybe 1/3 the size of a normal battery.

Auto stop/start stopped working about 1/2 year before warranty ran out on my 2016. Dealer struggled to find the problem. Updated software; checked cables, charging system and battery. Finally tracked it down to a faulty BMS (battery monitoring) module and cable, which they replaced. Has worked fine for the past nearly 2 years now.

Thanks, I have looked but cannot locate. Before I tear up all of the trunk carpeting and make a mess, does anyone know exactly where this lithium battery is located?
