Convertible Roof

I have a problem with the roof not opening. I can open it manually only 100mm away from the front screen but that's about it and I don't won't to force it back. Does anyone know how I can manually open this folding top so I can inspect and replace the rear motors and sensors, if required.
Dealerships want close to $40k to replace the complete roof ... $40k that is ridicules.

Yes, $40k is stupid money. Long story, short; My top was damaged, and had insurance pay $12k to get it fixed. Took about 3 different shops before I found one that could actually do the job.

In the meantime, the tool to manually operate the top on my 2014 convertible is located in the passenger's foot well on the fuse box cover. Jaguar Dealer's service tech said it's a big job to use the tool, and better off letting him fight work to manually operate the top.

Thanks G-Man, I know where the tool is and used it to close the roof after it opened the first time.
What I need to know - Is there a way I can open the roof completely so I can check the motors and sensors?

Sorry I can’t answer your question as I didn’t do the work on the top myself. It was done at a specialty shop in San Jose, CA as even the Jaguar Dealer’s service dept. didn’t know how to work on it. And, most of the damage done to my top had to do with the linkage which you can get to with the top down and the cover flaps open.

You might try and get better information from < Jaguar F-Type Convertible Roof Repairs - Cayman Auto Services >.

Good luck, Glen…

Hello, what shop was it in San Jose? I have the same issue and also live in San Jose, so I would love to take it in.

The original shop Jaguar Monterey sent me to was the All Around Auto Body shop in Marina, Ca. That was back in 2016. I think they are still open, but even they couldn't fix my top. I believe that they had to send my Jag out to one or two other shops before someone could fix it. Their email is < [email protected] >. Maybe they still have contact with the shop in San Jose/Santa Clara area. One shop in that area was Bascom Trim and Upholstery, but I believe they shut down in 2018. Good luck, Let me know if I can help any more with AAAB.
