Hi. I'm really disappointed with the Meridien sound system that I purchased with my F Type. I paid the £1750 for the upgraded system I am unimpressed with its performance. I think I need to point out now I have an XF with the upgraded Meridien system which is excellent which is why I'm disappointed. I have found the sound distorts at low levels with the bass, treble and sub all at factory levels. The speakers behind the seats hardly make a noise when I move the location to the rear and overall the system sounds far cheaper than the one in the XF. Im starting to wonder if mine is faulty and would like to hear from other owners on their experiences. Thanks

Sorry to hear you're unhappy with the upgrade.

Looks like I dodged a bullet there - the cost of the upgrade here in Australia is AUD$7000 - or £4,110.

I just couldn't imagine anything would sound good enough to justify a price that high.

Looks like I was right.

See if you can squeeze you Dealer - especially if you didn't get the chance to check it out as you ordered it before the model was released.

What reward are Jaguar trying to give those that placed their faith in them with the new model if they don't consider your request carefully?

Good luck.

Must be something wrong! Mine is OUTSTANDING!!! Especially using iPod with 192Kbps or higher recordings. I think you should adjust from factory default settings to achieve desired results.

Hi Dave

Thanks for this. I actually haven't tried a CD yet so I'm going to give that a go. Could you tell me how loud your rear speakers behind the seats are when you put the range to the rear only. Mine are very low. I presume the subs are below the seats. I tried to get a speaker diagram from meridien but they can't provide one

I have the same upgrade and I agree it does seem to easily distort, I have not tried to adjust the factory settings as yet so maybe that will help but I am assuming you tried that so I am not hopeful. Trouble is, with a car this loud you need a loud stereo!

I have had trouble with using the speaker phone even when the windows are up (but the top is down). I am advised that the sound breaks up on the other end of the line. Anyone else notice this?

I have the upgraded system in my V8 S and I have experienced the distortion.

I read socalDaves comment about 192khz files and I'd like to point out that 24-bit/192khz or 16-bit/44khz shouldnt make a difference to playback. There is no increased fidelity with 24/192 during playback, only in recording/production. It just requires more space.

99% of people are using 16/44 these days and if you download a file from itunes the .m4a is in that format.

I've had this discussion at length and I am a music producer with a vested interest in fidelity! Feel free to read the following in-depth analysis on the subject:

So, my point is that the bass shouldn't distort like it does on this Meridian system. I have experienced the low end distortion in my Evoque also with the same system. I guess we are paying for Meridian's marketing.

My 770 watt system works well. I get that there was limited placement options in such a small interior area convertible car. Coupe will over more options. Better sound quality than I had in a Z06 with Bose system.
