F-Type S V6 seems to be in limp home mode without engine management light

I was driving yesterday and my F-Type refused to rev over 2500rpm with a violent judder. This happened in an old X-Type of mine with the engine management light on and confirmed as limp home mode.

However, yesterday I had no engine management light and when I pulled over, restarted the car, no issue. I'll check the system with a OBD reader later today but wondering if anyone else had experienced this? It happened when I moved the car into sport shift from the paddles, and wonder if it's to do with rev matching.

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers guys
