While nothing can replace my 68 E-Type (sadly sold during divorce 15 years ago), I have been watching the evolution of the F-Type and have realized that it may provide many of the same thrills but with more modern components and safety. I will be reading through the forum to learn all that I can, but in my search I will only be interested in 6 speed versions and would appreciate any guidance and/or advise on this.
You are so right to consider an F type! While I still have my 69 E, this past fall(2020) husband suggested that I look for a newer Jaguar. I didn't even realize Fs existed as you don't see them advertised and I had never seen one on the road. About fell off my chair looking at the photos.

. I've had 5 other British cars and try not to go farther than a couple hundred miles to look at a potential purchase. Also looked for red flags of problems, and didn't really see any. So started looking online.. carvana, gurus, edmunds,to locate a 6-speed. Must have been good karma, because within 3 weeks I had found a 6speed 2017 Premium coupe, low mileage, it had a car fax. Went to see it and take a drive .. omg omg omg. A plus was that it was still under factory warranty,( 5 years, 50000 miles.) So the F came home with me. It did have a battery issue that made the low battery warning come on. I made an appt with local Jaguar dealer and the main battery was replaced under warranty. Service adviser also told me that all the services were covered under warranty period ( oil changes) periodic mileage based services. Oil changes are not to be left to the quick oil change shops, as the oil has to be sucked out. He told me a horror story of one such shop mistakenly draining the trans fluid. There is no dipstick, you check the oil level via the instrument cluster.
While looking for a car, I found the instructional videos at ownerinfo.jaguar.com very helpful to learn about the various controls and settings. I did get an owners manual with the car, very well written, but the videos are to the point and arranged by subject/topic. When I picked up the car, I knew where everything was and how to work it. I drove my F into December and then put him away for the duration of our Wisconsin winter, and now looking forward to this year's driving season. Hope this helps, post back if I can answer any other questions. The E is not the F and the F is not the E, both superb in their own way. I love them both!
