Rear view mirrors

My car got automatic rear view mirrors on the doors . When you lock the car the mirrors move to the door leave and came back when you unlock the car . Furthermore they can be moved by the pressing the buttons on the inside door panel . My user manual tells me that this behaviour is the default setup . If you like to keep the mirrors in normal position when you lock the car your dealer can change the default setting . So I drove to my dealer to do this change and watched what they did . They pluged on their diagnostics laptop and could access a lot of options in the cars software , but no option to change the default mirror behaviour . The only thing he could do was to deactivate the automatic mirrors with the result that they couldn't be moved manually any more . I decided to go back to the original configuration . Perhaps their diagnostic software isn't up to date or the information in the user manual is wrong .
Has anyone already successfully changed the behaviour of mirrors ?
What is the default behaviour on your cars ?
Thanks for your posts .

The default on mine (in the USA) is that they fold when the car is locked and unfold when car is unlocked. I'm quite happy with this function.
Mine too (in the US) fold when locked and unfold when unlocked. I remember reading something in the printed manual about the dealer changing this. However, I just went through the slightly updated version of the manual I downloaded, and I couldn't find any mention of this. I did see that if you retract the mirrors with the mirror buttons, then they won't automatically unfold when you unlock the car. Only thing I could find.
Hi f-driver,

The UK Spec handbooks say the same as yours (the dealer can de-active this function) so I am unsure why the dealership are unable to do this, however I only hold information about UK vehicles.

Could you PM me your following details and I will get one of my colleagues in Germany to investigate this for you:
Full Name
VIN
Email Address
Dealership Used

Many Thanks

Mike
