Spoiler Control Button

Has anyone gotten this button to work? It didn't do anything on my 2015 R and it doesn't do anything on my 2020 R. So.....am I missing something here? The button lights up when I push it, but it doesn't do anything to the spoiler. It still raises and lowers on it's own depending on my speed.

Not sure but is it intended to stop the spoiler lifting when you go above 70mph, the normal lift speed.
Perhaps you need to drive faster!!!!

Lol I doubt it, I have quite the lead foot! Do you press the button before you get past 70? How does it work on yours?
I checked mine in the garage, without the engine running.
You are correct. The button activates the spoiler (manually). Press, it goes up. Press again, it goes down.
On the highway, it lifts automatically at about 70mph, then retracts when speed drops.
Have not checked to see if the button will lower the spoiler above 70mph - next time out.
Mine is the 2021 R-Dynamic but would expect the 2020R to be the same.
Time for trip to the dealer!!

Works perfectly on my 2014 v8s convertible. Ignition on, press button, up it pops, ignition off now I can clean under the spoiler. Gets dirty under there.

I never tried the button when the car wasn't in motion. I tried it in my garage, sure enough it works! I was thinking it was there so that I could lower it when I wanted to.

It’s used to raise and lower the spoiler for cleaning

It is only for cleaning.
Turn ignition on without starting engine and push the button to raise spoiler for cleaning.

Totally useless button! Researched it long ago and found out it was for raising the spoiler for cleaning...but doesn't do anything else. Why do I need to clean under a spoiler that doesn't go up until 70 mph? If someone is looking under at that speed I've got more work for them to do. Superman is in the building.

I've had my 2016 for 1-1/2 years and never looked under the spoiler until reading the posts in this thread. Just checked - dirty, but not ridiculously so. I cleaned under there. I'm good for another year!

With the 2021 you can use the botton to raise from the ON POSITION dont start engine.

Bobby you can do that will all F-Types. The issue is why can't you have full control of it to lower it when you don't want it up at 100 mph (oops)?
It is just intended to clean under the spoiler and will not function when moving. It activates automatically around 70mph like the Porsche tails except they can be manually raised and lowered. Many people seem to disconnect the spoiler function on their F Type by unplugging the connector by the battery but I rather prefer my spoiler function like it should.

As I understood it, this button is only operational (enabled) in European sales markets. Other then that, there is also a way to put it into maintenance mode that will raise and lower on demand, but I don't know if that works while at speed. (any speed)
Funny comments.
It is a bit of a press and hold kind of button and works for both up and down. It seems to work both at stop and in motion and primarily to raise or lower the little wing under the programmed limit.
On my ‘18 R convertible, I can raise it while parked. It will then remain up if I drive away.

Hello all Stations, That button has one purpose and one purpose only. And that is allow access to the underside of the spoiler area for cleaning. It will only raise the spoiler when the car is at a standstill. All other activation is automatic and governed by your highway speed of 65-70 mph. My guess is that the factory determined early on that it would be too hard to find people willing to run along side to clean under there at 70 mph. Cheers.
I can confirm that in Europe it works at any speed, spoiler can be raised/lowered with the engine idling or vehicle in motion regardless of speed. For some reason that would be illegal in US below 70 mph, so what remains is the "cleaning " function only with engine not running.
BTW, with a convertible the spoiler activates at 60 mph and retracts when you drop below 50 mph. Jag's windtunnel tests found a lower-speed lift-reduction dynamic was necessary for the drop-top.
I’m not sure how, but my US spec ‘18 R convertible goes up or down at the push of the button, regardless of speed. I’ve read many times it should not do this, but nonetheless it works.
