So I have a 2014 F type V8S here in Florida. The sticky surfaces are driving me crazy, around the window switches, surround around the door handles, and several other places, the surfaces are sticky and there is a sticky film that I can scrape off with my nail. Obviously Jaguar never tested their products in a hotter climate than Birmingham England so the rubberized surface wasn't an issue? However, this sucks, as they say. Anyone else have this issue and has found a solution. I bet that Jaguar resolved this issue in later model years.

Hello!!

In Georgia I had a 2014 F-type and traded it in for a 2016. Love it!
So we have a home in Hawaii so I bought a 2014 F-type sight unseen from a dealership
in Honolulu and had it shipped to Maui.

The paddle shifters and other buttons are sticky and its gross.
I don't know what I can do except for goo remover??

I'm happy with my F-types but I want to clean it up.

Sorry for the extremely late response, I never did see your question. But I returned my 2014 car to the Dealership and they replaced all the sticky and gross door grips, buttons, steering wheel cover, you know what I'm talking about. Obviously they never tested their cheap materials for service in a warmer place than Birmingham England, in August.

........But I still love that engine.

Has anyone else had any luck getting their dealership to change out the gooey plastics? I'm in Louisiana and mine are really bad. Even the surround on the pop up vent in the dashboard is sticky.

Sticky Switch Fix

I had the same problem with my XJL from Florida and a friend with a Maserati who had the same issue recommended Simple Green all purpose cleaner which I tried. It worked on the screen as well as the buttons, but with a lot of finger grease and time! It didn't harm the white letters either. In the meantime my brother in-law tells me he used ammonia to clean his with little effort. This is common on cars from hot climates.

Update: I just tried a no name ammonia (I purchased yesterday in a supermarket cleaner isle) on a few switches I hadn't previously cleaned with SG. I'm happy to say that it worked great with considerably less work than SG. Both require going over and over the areas until all of the film is removed, but the ammonia seems to cut thru it faster. Again with no damage to the white characters.

Sticky switches

I have a 2014 F Type and live in Florida as well. The interior on this car is driving me crazy. It is out of warranty now so the dealership will not do anything about it. I did however talk to the dealership about it today and they tell me that for $700 they can have someone in their shop basically rub off. So all total under a grand. Shouldn't have ever happened but not bad to get everything right. This quote came from Millenia Jaguar in Orlando.

gummy buttons and materials

first post. I own 2014 S, got it used. Some materials are sticky inside. Including main buttons and surface material around window buttons. It catches dust and grime and feels gummy. I took it to the dealership they wouldnt do anything for me. I have extended warranty but that really is worthless. I've decided I have to fix myself with some cleaner and time. Really quite shocking interior quality. My old hyundai looks great inside. Just nuts w a sticker of $99K and the interior cant hold up. My research found that its heat that has caused this to happen.

My car also has the thump going on. Feels like the deep sounding thump comes from under dash. Trying to figure out a fix for that too.

I have Jag F-Type S 2014, bought used. Buttons and materials are gummy. I've learned that heat caused this. The only way to fix is to clean it off yourself. Dealership wouldnt help me and I have an extended warranty. Very discouraging. First time ever in a car this has happened. The car cost $99k and this is happening. Seriously!?

Just got my 2014 back from dealer after changing out all sticky buttons, trim etc. WHAT an improvement! Car was out of warranty but dealer told me to contact Jaguar/Landrover at 1-800-452-4827 ext 9, that they might help. I did and they agreed to pay half. The bill came to around $4000 and I paid $1800 plus change. I know its a lot of $ but I think it was worth it.

Believe it or not its leather cleaner. Only a damp cloth to wipe the interior down. Had Jaguar in Tampa detail my car on a service visit and within days I had sticky everything. They sent it out for detailing. Tried everything. Saw a post from singapore that 2 tbl spoons of baking soda made into a paste worked. This is my fifth jag and never had a sticky issue until they detailed it. Not even 10k in mileage but my wife hates driving it with the stickiness.

2015 V8-S. I used leather cleaner and a plastic scraper and was able to remove most of the gunk from flat surfaces (handle mostly). The key was scraping it into little balls.

My experience is ...it's the stuff you clean your car with that becomes "sticky" after years of use ....

Could you tell me which dealer this was? I've made no headway with Jag corporate even though is is a global issue with the '14 & '15's.

Thanks in advance, and any other info that might be useful to resolve this issue is much appreciated! Feel free to message me!

I have a 2015 F-type S in San Diego, and the sticky starter button was solved with a couple of careful circular wipes of Windex on a paper towel. The paddle shifters have proved more problematic. Windex did nothing, so tried alcohol next, goo was gone, surface slick and smooth, but only for a minute...sticky came right back! Tried barbeque lighter fluid, as that removes road tar from lower fenders without harming the paint, but did nothing for the back of the paddle shifters. Then tried pieces of plain ol' tan masking tape on the back of the paddles, an application which is invisible in that tight space, and voila...works great. Smooth to the touch, issue gone!

The wrong cleaning solutions where used on your car, junk like armoreall will destroy a fine interior.
if you what it done right, go to a quality interior shop or a dealer, where may be a profes product to fix the melted surface, if not you will have to rep the damaged areas.
