We are very pleased to report that the Thumping sound from the back of our F-Type has been corrected by the dealer. This problem may appear in all 3 F-Type models and the Jaguar fix action seems to be a good remedy. The thumping sound occurs when the rear suspension springs are compressed, metal against metal, which produced the annoying sound. The part used for the repair action is nothing more than a tubular sleeve made out of plastic. This item is installed between the last two coils closest to the chassis. Now we have metal against plastic. Jaguar, who has sent out a service bulletin on this problem will fix it only on a case by case basis. If you say nothing, they will say nothing....I took a digital picture of the fix however I have not been able to figure out how to post it into this format. I am still amazed about everything on this car and wish you all happy trails. Pascha

Great intel and photo. My car has this same issue, I reported it last month, just before the kit was available for installation. Will probably get the repair done next week. Otherwise i agree, this car (V8S) is a life changer. At the minimum, a LOT of people want to see and learn about it. And then there's the performance, and the noise...oh, man!

In my case the clunk was due to a defective right, rear shock. I took my car in to have the isolator sleeves added and found out they had been put on at the port. My dealership did install new sleeves but the issue was not corrected so they continued looking for the issue. I am happy to say that my clunk is now gone.

pasha; Does this "fix" strike you (or anyone else?) as a long term cure for the issue?
I don't think it is a good fix for the long term either. The plastic sleeve/tube is made of a soft plastic and does have expansion and compression holes along its circumference. I do however envision this plastic turning yellow and cracking with age. This type of tubing is available at Home Depot if one desires to go that route. Pascha

Hi

My car was fixed last week. I didn't realise it was so annoying until it now. Fingers crossed the plastic is upto the job

Darren, good to hear you had the insulator installed. We found another F-Type driver two weeks ago that thought the thumping sound was from his umbrella bouncing around in his trunk/boot. We let him know about the service bulletin and he had it taken care of.
