Okay, I just bought myself a project car (oh lord, protect my wallet). It’s a 2017 F-Type with 59k miles. Now where to begin. Looking for some advice on what to tackle first as I feel like a lot of these are connected.

Codes errors:
P0300: Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0301: Cylinder 1 Misfire
P0302: Cylinder 2 Misfire
P0303: Cylinder 3 Misfire
P050B: Cold Start Ignition Timing Performance
P2610: ECM/PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance
P1315: Persistent Misfire

For the P030x causes:
  • Faulty or worn spark plugs
  • Faulty spark plug wires or coils
  • Vacuum leak
  • Low fuel pressure
  • Camshaft sensor defective
  • Crankshaft sensor defective
  • Engine timing off
  • Leaking head gasket
  • Low engine compression
  • Poor quality fuel / Misfueling

For P1315 causes:
  • Cylinder compression low
  • Low fuel pressure
  • Clogged fuel injectors
  • Faulty / worn out spark plugs
  • Faulty ignition coil
  • Faulty fuel injectors
  • Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

For P2610 causes:
  • Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
  • Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
  • ECM/PCM Harness is open or shorted
  • ECM/PCM Circuit poor electrical connection
  • ECM/PCM outdated program

There is no visible leaking of any oil/coolant/etc anywhere nor any smoke from tailpipe. Everything looks “dry”. My initial thought was to just replace the fuel injectors and spark plugs first. But the inability of the car to maintain a steady idle reminds me of a vacuum leak in the PCV valve I’ve had before in a different car. Also, a little weird is the high-pitched whirring that doesn’t sound normal to me. Could that be a function of the above issues? I would imagine the ECM is giving codes because of the above issues as I’ve not heard of those guys failing often. So in recap:
1st - Replace PCV valve. Check for improvement
2nd - Replace Fuel injectors/spark plugs. Check for improvement.
3rd – Come back here for next steps.

Anything else that is easy/simple to check/replace that I should do? Check out the video on youtube of the engine running:

Hey kalarius! I own a 2014 Jaguar F-Type V8S and your experience sounds remarkably similar to what I'm facing.

I recently had catastrophic injector failure leading to serious misfires and limp mode. My mechanic replaced the injectors and spark plugs which fixed it temporarily for a day, but the misfires returned a day later. Now they're telling me they've found low compression (130psi) on one side and need to inspect the engine internals.

Did you ever get to the bottom of your misfire issues? If so, what ultimately turned out to be the problem? Did replacing the injectors and PCV resolve it, or did you have to go deeper into the engine?

Any insights from your experience would be incredibly helpful as I'm trying to determine how extensive (and expensive) this repair might become.

Hey theivanFranco, I own 2019 Jaguar F-Type V6 and your experience is exactly same as mine. I bought the car in 2018 and in 2020 had my first misfire. While it was under warranty, they "fixed" the issue only for it to happen again in 2021. This time the car was in the shop under warranty from Sept 2021-April 2022. The same error codes and same misfire. They worked with Jaguar TA and "fixed the issue". In Jan 2025, the codes came back again and now one dealer said to replace injector 1 and 5. I went to another dealer for second opinion and they said it was wire harness, and now they are saying engine replacement. I have extended warranty and the car has been in the shop from Jan 2025 till now. They have not provided any documentations on the compression tests. Actually the compression tests they provided me had 150 psi (normal). When I went to the dealership to confront them about it, the advisor called the technician and he verbally told me it 105psi for cylinder 5. I believe there is a bigger defect that needs to be investigated. they quoted me $~33,000K to fix the engine. I am reaching out to legal teams to help me get over this issue. I feel like if they cant find the issue, their answer is to replace the entire engine. (but not at my cost).

Were you able to identify what was your issue?
